Description
- Prepare Saltwater: Use freshly prepared saltwater with a salinity of 15-30 g/l. Boiled tap water or reverse osmosis water mixed with salt works well.
- Hatching Container and Aeration: Use a cylindrical tank with a conical bottom. Place air lines at the end of the lower cone or at the tank’s center to provide intense aeration with coarse bubbles.
- Dosing the Eggs: Add 1 gram of high-quality eggs per liter of water. For medium-quality eggs, use 2.5 grams per liter.
- Temperature: Maintain a temperature of 25-28°C for optimal hatching.
- pH Level: Keep the pH between 8-8.3. Sodium bicarbonate can be added to adjust or stabilize the pH.
- Lighting: Ensure the container is well-lit with an illuminance of 2000 lux at the water surface to induce hatching.
- Incubation Length: Most nauplii hatch within 24-32 hours.
- Feeding: Feed the freshly hatched nauplii as soon as possible or keep them cool at 10°C
