- Appearance: They are known for their streamlined bodies with a distinctive red stripe running from their nose through the eye, and a black stripe below it. They also have bright yellow and blue markings on their fins.
- Size: They can grow up to 6 inches (15 cm) in length.
- Habitat: In the wild, they are found in fast-flowing streams with rocky substrates, dense vegetation, and well-oxygenated water.
- Care: They thrive in spacious tanks with a strong current, plenty of hiding spots, and plants. They prefer a water temperature of 72-77°F (22-25°C).
- Diet: They are omnivores and enjoy a varied diet, including high-quality flake foods, pellets, and live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms.
- Behavior: They are peaceful and do well in community tanks. It’s best to keep them in groups of six or more to ensure they feel secure and exhibit natural schooling behavior.
