Description
- Appearance: Males display stunning iridescent green and blue scales with elongated fins and occasional black and red accents.
- Size: They typically grow up to 2-3 inches (5-7.5 cm) in length.
- Habitat: They inhabit brackish waters, primarily in tidal swamps, mangroves, and peat swamps, preferring areas with dense vegetation and plenty of hiding spots.
- Care: These fish thrive in aquariums with slightly brackish water, a gentle filtration system, and ample cover like plants and driftwood. A water temperature of 75-82°F (24-28°C) is ideal.
- Diet: In the wild, they feed on insects and small invertebrates, so a diet of high-quality pellets, live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms is recommended.
- Behavior: Males can be territorial and aggressive towards other males, so it’s best to keep only one male per tank or in a divided setup. They are generally more peaceful with females and other species.
