Growing to just 1-2 inches, Neon Tetras are perfect for small tanks and community aquariums. Their schooling behavior creates mesmerizing displays of synchronized swimming, adding a dynamic and captivating visual element to your aquatic setup.
These tiny beauties thrive in well-established, densely planted aquariums with plenty of hiding spots, such as driftwood, rocks, and tall plants like Java Ferns, Moneywort, and Green Cabomba. Neon Tetras prefer the middle to top levels of the tank, peacefully coexisting with other non-aggressive fish of similar size.
To keep them happy and healthy, it’s best to house them in groups of at least 6 to 12. A larger school not only enhances their natural behavior but also reduces stress, allowing them to display their full vibrant colors.
Important to Note:
Neon Tetras are sensitive to water conditions, so it’s essential to slowly acclimate them to new tanks. They are best suited for mature, well-cycled aquariums, as they may struggle in newly established tanks. Their colors may dim at night, which is completely normal and not a sign of illness.
