Description
- Size: They grow up to 2 inches (5 cm).
- Lifespan: They can live up to 3-5 years.
- Origin: Native to the Thoungyin River in Thailand, a tributary of the Salween River.
- Habitat: They thrive in well-oxygenated, fast-flowing waters. In aquariums, they prefer a sandy substrate with plenty of rocks and driftwood for hiding
- Water Parameters: They prefer neutral to slightly alkaline water with a pH range of 7.0-8.2. The temperature should be between 72-82°F (22-28°C), and water hardness between 8-12 dGH.
- Diet: They are herbivorous, feeding on algae, biofilm, and blanched vegetables like zucchini and spinach. They can also be given algae wafers and sinking pellets
- Behavior: They are peaceful and solitary. They are active scavengers and spend most of their time exploring the tank and feeding on detritus
- Compatibility: They are peaceful and can be kept with other non-aggressive tank mates such as small fish, shrimp, and other snails
