Description
Habitat Requirements
- Tank Size: A minimum of 30 gallons is recommended to accommodate their size and activity level.
- Water Parameters:
- Temperature: 22-26°C (72-79°F)
- pH: 6.5-7.5
- Water Hardness: 4-10 dGH
- Aquarium Setup: They prefer a tank with plenty of plants, rocks, driftwood, and hiding spots. They thrive in clean, well-oxygenated water with a gentle flow.
Behavior and Diet
- Behavior: They are peaceful and bottom-dwellers, often hiding among plants and decorations. Although typically nocturnal, they can become more active during the day in well-planted tanks.
- Diet: They are omnivores and will eat algae, biofilm, and vegetables. In captivity, they can be fed sinking algae wafers, catfish pellets, and occasional live or frozen foods.
Compatibility
- Tank Mates: They can be kept with other peaceful fish of similar size. However, they may consume very small dwarf shrimp, particularly shrimplets.
- Social Behavior: They are generally peaceful towards their own species and other non-aggressive fish.
